Managed by Natural England, the former gravel processing site has secluded woodland, several lakes and open areas of scrub and grassland. We were impressed by the richness of the site on our first visit last September. A May visit should offer a different selection of wildlife. Park at the reserve, 100m beyond the Butt Inn, or short walk from Aldermaston Station. Booking essential with as there is no public access and the reserve is kept locked at all times.
