An overview of how birds sense the world and how it underpins understanding of their behaviour. From owls to cormorants, ducks to parrots, the talk will examine the fundamental limits on vision and hearing and how different sensory information is integrated to guide key aspects of behaviour. There will be a final look at how understanding bird vision can be used to reduce the collisions of birds with power lines and wind turbines.
