DESCRIPTION:Leader: Jim Wills \nMeet at Frieth Village Hall\, 100m south of the church (SU796902). If the hall car park is full\, park nearby in the wider parts of the main street. The 3 mile walk through Chiltern countryside has a few short steep gradients but no stiles. We walk north from Frieth along hedgerows and woodland edges to ancient woodland at Fining Wood\, then south to the contrasting habitats of Moor Common and Moor Copse\, and finally to Moorend Common\, a SSSI on a London Clay outlier with wet grassland fed by acidic water sources\, supporting species not commonly found in the Chilterns.

Banks and hollows left by medieval chalk workings have a mosaic of superb chalk grassland and scrub. After an introduction by the Reserves Officer\, we should see Musk and other orchids and many butterflies on a morning walk of about 2 miles with a few steep inclines. Bring a picnic lunch if you would like to spend longer at the reserve or visit another local site in the afternoon. Members only. Tel 07733 488266 \nMeet by the village green in front of Enborne Church (SU436657) for a general interest walk of about 4 km through Hamstead Park and along the Kennet and Avon canal from Hamstead Lock to Benham Bridge. The park has many interesting trees and a lake\, while habitats along the river and canal include wet woodland and reedbeds. SUMMARY:Hartley Wespall
DESCRIPTION:A walk of about 3.4 miles through water meadows and copses in the valley of the Loddon and Lyde rivers to the west of Rotherwick. The walk will start near Mill Farm (RG27 0BQ) on Mill Lane\, Hartley Westpall (SU696573). There is room for 2/3 small cars on a gravel layby at the start\, with space for several more cars a little to the north where the Brenda Parker Way meets Mill Lane\, under some pylons and cabling. The route is mostly flat\, with 3 stiles. After the walk we will drive along Mill Lane to Frog Lane and then turn left into The Street\, Rotherwick for lunch at the Coach and Horses. If you would like to eat at the pub afterwards\, please contact us by the evening of Monday 17th October
