DESCRIPTION:Leader: Rob Stallard \nMeet at the village car park by the recreation ground (OX10 9JD) adjacent to the A329 by the bus stop (SU 59054 83879). Depending on the weather we will either walk up to Unhill Wood on the Moulsford Downs or else walk along the river bank towards Streatley. The Downs walk will be nearly 5 miles with a steady climb and descent so it will be more strenuous than recent walks. Lunch will be at the Beetle and Wedge riverside inn. Note that there is very limited parking at the pub so we will need to walk the 500m from the public car park.

DESCRIPTION:Leaders: Julia Cooper & Ian Duddle \nMeet at the Hants &IoW Wildlife Trust reserve car park on the east side of the B3349\, 300 metres before M3 junction 5. The reserve consists of open heathland with ponds left from gravel extraction and woodland. It is grazed by cattle and ponies. We should see nationally scarce Marsh Gentians (over 900 counted last year) and other heathland plants including Petty Whin\, Devil’s-bit Scabious\, Sneezewort and Lesser Skullcap.

DESCRIPTION:Leader: Alan Holmes \nMeet at Silver Lane\, close to where it joins Burghfield Road. There is space for about 10 cars. Target species are various dragonflies including Scarce Blue-tailed Damselfly and Black Darter. It is also a good site for Grayling butterflies. Fifty Acre Piece is a landscaped former gravel pit site\, with a mix of large ponds and smaller seeps.

DESCRIPTION:Leader: Mick Jones \nFollow Dancers End Lane and Bottom Road from the bottom of Tring Hill on the old A41. Look for the ornate red-brick Victorian pumping station on your left\, just before the lane climbs steeply through beech woods. Turn into the drive\, then sharp left into the car park at HP23 6LB. With broad-leaved woodland\, sheltered chalk grassland and ex-arable fields being restored to chalk grassland\, this is a very rich and varied reserve. This SSSI is a large conifer plantation with interesting heath areas\, ditches and ponds. About 2 ½ miles on flat terrain but can be muddy in places.

DESCRIPTION:Leaders: Julia Cooper & Ian Duddle \n** Change to previous parking advice ** \nPark opposite the primary school at SU554620\, RG19 8FY\, ///firewall.tangible.fakes. Heading south on the B3051 turn right into Ashford Hill Road towards Headley. The car park is on the left about 150 metres up this road – use first entry. It’s about 5 minutes walk to our meeting place in the recreation ground car park (SU555621\, ///email.spill.eruptions) via a footpath starting on the west side of the school\, or north along the B3051 and up the first branch of Chapel Lane. \nThe site is a complex of woods and wet and dry meadows under different management\, with a remarkably diverse flora and abundant insects and birds. Part is currently being grazed and the ground is uneven in places. We hope to see Dyer’s Greenweed\, Greater Broomrape and a variety of marshland plants. Morning walk but bring a picnic if you would like to explore further; please contact us if you intend to come and may stay longer.

DESCRIPTION:Meet at the car park at Impstone Road\, Pamber Heath (SU616621) for a 3.5 mile walk to look at the Wild Daffodils. Pamber Forest is currently very wet and muddy in places. Although most of the walk is on gravel tracks or dry heathland\, there are a few unavoidable stretches of deep mud. Wellingtons are strongly recommended. The flora is essentially Mediterranean in type\, but with great altitudinal variation from lowland valleys\, often dominated by evergreen oak forests\, to high altitude beech and conifer forests\, both forms of scrub vegetation derived from Man’s activities over millennia. As well as focusing on the plants\, Brian spent time bird watching and moth trapping so these will get a mention too. \n

A walk of about 2 miles on good footpaths (which may be muddy in places) to look at the varied geology of Finchampstead Ridges – Eocene beds of sands\, clays and silts\, capped by gravel. The Ridges have panoramic views across the Blackwater valley towards Hampshire and the Hogsback Ridge in Surrey.
