SUMMARY:Newtown Common
DESCRIPTION:Leader: Rob Stallard  (Tel.  0118 961 4277 / 0776 036797) \nNewtown Common is a little known nature reserve directly south of Newbury. It is a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation with a wide range of plants and animals. The mixture of open acid heath\, together with areas of pine and oak woodland with birch scrub as well as streams\, gives a variety of habitats. In a 3 mile walk we will explore the heathland and a valley to the west. The site can be muddy in places. Newtown Village Hall car park is accessed from a sharp turn onto a bumpy track at the junction of Well Street and Jonathan Hill. There will be a pub lunch option afterwards probably at the nearby Swan https://www.swannewbury.co.uk/  – contact us nearer the time for details. \n
