The Chase and Great Pen Wood
Wednesday July 17 @ 10:15 am - 1:00 pmFree
Meet at the car park of the Rampant Cat in Woolton Hill village where we will return for lunch. The Chase is a National Trust property with mixed woodland, heath land, a meadow, streams and a large pond. The adjacent Great Pen Wood is managed by the Forestry Commission and is being gradually reverted to native broad-leaved woodland. Both areas are mainly on acid clay soil with poor drainage so parts can be wet or muddy. The walk is about 3½ miles and the pub is opening specially to accommodate us. Leader: Rob Stallard
