The Wednesday morning walks, which are a steady 4 to 5 miles in length, are of general interest, with the option of a pub drink and meal afterwards. Field meetings are more focused on an area or specific flora or fauna.

Grid Reference and start times are as stated. Please bring your own refreshments for all-day outings. For further information, or if you need a lift, please use the contact form. No dogs are allowed on Nature Reserves and in other places must be kept on short leads.

All persons attending our events do so at their own risk. No responsibility for any mishaps occurring during any excursion, walk or field meeting is accepted by the Society or by the walk leaders.

Cookham and Cock Marsh

Meet at the National Trust car park at Cookham Moor, £2 or free with a NT membership card (SU892853). Additional parking Maidenhead Rd (500m, SU888849) or Whyteladyes Lane (1.3km, SU883844). A gentle generally level walk to Cock Marsh, then a steep climb up the chalk grassland of Winter Hill. Cock Marsh is one of the richest wetland sites in our area, with plants such as Brown Galingale, Knotted Pearlwort and Tubular Water-dropwort. Winter Hill has interesting chalk flora.
